- Blaine Pho, CFASenior Vice-President, Fixed Income
Blaine Pho, CFA, is Senior Vice-President, Fixed Income, at Greystone Managed Investments, which he joined in 1995. In his current capacity, Blaine is responsible for portfolio management. Blaine leads a team of seven fixed income professionals, who manage money market investments as well as all fixed income portfolios for the firm. In addition he has client relationship responsibilities for Greystone’s institutional clients across Canada.
At Greystone, Blaine is an influential voice on the firm’s senior Asset Strategy Team, which shapes investment strategy for the entire organization. Blaine is also actively involved in the market analysis for all of Greystone’s Fixed Income portfolios. He is likewise involved in product development, notably in the firm’s initiatives in liability-driven investment strategies. Blaine Pho was awarded his CFA charter in 2000. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts & Sciences from the University of Saskatchewan and has completed the Canadian Securities Course.
- Chad Toews, CFA, CMTVice-President, Fixed Income
Chad is Vice-President, Fixed Income, with Greystone Managed Investments Inc. where his primary responsibilities are fixed income trading and overseeing the trading team. Chad first joined Greystone in 1997 as a Real Estate & Mortgages Co-op Student and became a permanent addition to the Greystone team in 1998, quickly progressing to a senior level position. He completed his CFA designation in 2001, and obtained his Chartered Market Technician designation in 2005.
- Curtis Schimmelmann, CFAVice-President, Fixed Income
Curtis is a Vice-President on Greystone’s Fixed Income team, where his primary responsibility is strategy and portfolio management. A senior investment professional, Curtis honed his skills in financial valuations, capital markets and portfolio management while gaining more than a decade of experience in the financial industry before joining Greystone in 2009. He was promoted to his current position in 2014. Curtis is a CFA Charterholder, holds a Bachelor of Administration degree from the University of Regina and has passed the Canadian Securities Course exam (Honours). Before joining Greystone, Curtis was Manager, Capital Markets at Viterra, where he had corporate treasury responsibilities that included overseeing the asset side of the company’s defined benefit pension plans, and administration of risk management programs relating to corporate exposures. Prior to Viterra, Curtis worked at Farm Credit Canada, where he held roles of increasing responsibility in the treasury division. Curtis enjoys playing hockey and golf, and being involved with his children’s sports.
- Neil Schell, CFA, CMASenior Portfolio Manager
Neil is a Senior Portfolio Manager with Greystone’s Fixed Income team, where his primary responsibility is fixed income analysis. Neil joined Greystone in 2007. Between 1999 and 2001, Neil gained experience in public accounting while working at Parker Quine, before going on to work at the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, where he was employed as a Commodity Accountant from 2001 until 2004. During his time at the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, Neil also served as an Account Manager on an interim basis, a position that included additional responsibility for budgeting, supervising and analysis for senior management. In 2005, Neil joined Saskcan Pulse Trading Inc. as a Senior Accountant, and was rapidly promoted to Controller, where he was responsible for overseeing all day to day accounting, finance and payroll functions of the organization. Neil is a Certified Management Accountant and holds his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Regina. Neil received his CFA charter in 2011.
- Michael Geng, CFA, CMAPortfolio Manager
Michael is a Portfolio Manager with Greystone’s Fixed Income team, where his primary responsibility is fixed income analysis. Michael completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1996, then gained experience working as an Assistant Brand Manager for Gillette China, before going on to work as a Senior Financial Analyst with TÜV Consulting Co., Ltd. Michael then completed his Master’s of Business Administration in Finance at the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario in 2006, and spent several years working as an Independent Financial Analyst and Investor before joining Greystone in 2008. Michael has successfully completed his Certified Management Accountant in 2009, and received his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2012.
- Jennifer Melcher, CFAPortfolio Manager
Jennifer is a Senior Fixed Income Trader with Greystone’s Fixed Income team, where her primary responsibility is bond trading. Jennifer completed her Bachelor of Business Administration degree at the University of Regina in 2007. While completing her degree, Jennifer completed co-op work terms at Farm Credit Canada, Sask Power and the Saskatchewan Provincial Auditor. She became a CFA charterholder in 2011. Jennifer is an active cyclist and soccer player, and is an MS Bike Tour participant.
- Rankin Jaworski, CFAFixed Income Trader/Analyst
Rankin is a Fixed Income Trader/Analyst on Greystone’s Fixed Income team, where his primary responsibility is Fixed Income trading. Rankin completed his Bachelor of Business Administration degree at the University of Regina, with a major in Finance. While completing his degree, Rankin worked with Greystone as a co-op student. He joined Greystone in 2010 as a Money Market Trader and was promoted to his current position in 2013. Since then, he has also become a CFA charterholder.
- Max MooreMoney Market Trader
Max Moore is a Money Market Trader with Greystone’s Fixed Income team, where his primary responsibility is money market trading. Max joined Greystone in 2013. Max holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Finance from the University of Calgary. Max is a level two candidate in the CFA program. Prior to joining Greystone, Max was employed by Westmount Developments. Max’s community involvement includes working with Regina Open Doors Society teaching basic financial literacy to new Canadians, coaching with the Regina Optimist Dolphins Swim Club, and working with the University of Regina’s JDC West Finance case team.
- Jafer Naqvi, CFAVice-President, Product Specialist
Jafer Naqvi is Vice-President, Product Specialist for Greystone Managed Investments Inc. Jafer joined Greystone in its Toronto office in 2012. As a member of the Fixed Income Team, Jafer is responsible for Greystone’s fixed income thought leadership and client services. Before joining Greystone, Jafer was Vice-President, Product Specialist, with Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO). Prior to that, he was an Investment Analyst and later a Manager Research Consultant with Hewitt Associates (now Aon Hewitt). Jafer holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree (Honours) from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a CFA charterholder.
